Settled on the Sky

by Mario Milosevic

Settled on the sky,

I built my house

expansively to bring

those spaces close.

The beanstalk ceilings

where giants lived

explained the ways

of birds for me.

With a rapid heart

beating and a face

tinged red I stretched

my self on the floor.

And looked up to

a wind constructing

worlds strung between

the wooden beams.

The tiles pressing

on my back melted

like warm jelly.

I gulped quietly,

grabbed for some

thing I could not

see in the pillars

of air holding me up.
