They Say Apollo Sun King

Slew the Serpent Goddess

by Munro Sickafoose

42 times I've been bit

milking rattlesnakes

each time felt like bein' hit

with a red hot sledge hammer

n' every time your heart beats

the venom eats away

at your whole body

till you either heal or die, lawd

they say them babies

is lots more poisonous

but the momma has lots more venom

that goes for all females

you put two snakes on the table

and the female always strikes first

same with humans, lawd

42 times I've been bit

slammed with a red hot fire

each time my wife has saved me

shes been there first real quick

suckin' out that venom

whilst death rattled

real faraway like in my head

rattled with desire

for thee, lawd
