Just finished updating a wonderful section of articles on mythic journeys and now I want to pack a quick suitcase and travel the world. Terri Windling makes an excellent guide to several countries! And Alan Weisman's article on Carnevale in Spain is fascinating (and the black and white photographs -- like the one above -- by Cristina Rodero are amazing.)
Fairy tales, myth and folklore have an emotionally complex tradition relating to the archtype of the mother and the daughter-- and no wonder as so many of the story tellers were women who straddled both roles as daughter and then mother. When mothers are powerful how do daughter's find their own identites? When mothers are dangerous, how do daughters survive? And when mothers are loving teachers, what are the lessons a daughter learns? We have selected handful of poems from our Poetry Archive that look at the relationships between these ambiguous mothers and the responses of their daughters.
Very happy to announce that all of the poetry has been updated. If you are an author and would like to update your bio, please email us and we will do that (along with correct any errors that might have crept into the poem during the transfer). There are so many terrific poems and we do hope that you will rediscover favorites as well as new works to enjoy.
I am happy to announce that we have successfully domain-mapped the new site here with the old url www.endicott-studio.com (and I will be adding endicott-studio.com as well). Please be assured that all of the content of the old site will gradually be available here. You might find that some of your favorite articles of poems will have a new url -- but the Archive indexes should help you find everything anew. Keep in mind, many pieces are live -- but many pieces are still in transition as we clean them up and re-fit with new art and updated links. Thanks for patience on this!
